The Columbus Bar

Jon Myers and Doug Memering moved their love of good beer from All the Buzz to the Columbus Bar in downtown Columbus and it's a change for the better. For one thing, it's much more accessible to not only beer folks, it's right across the street from the Commons Mall where lots of traffic will find them. For another, they have sympathetically redecorated the 1939 establishment into a beautiful art deco place with a grand horseshoe bar on one side and a quiet family-suitable restaurant on the other.

Suitability factors:

Sitting at the bar Conversational local color.
On a date Casual meal. Handy to theaters.
Out with the guys Sports on TV at the bar. And, oh yes, there's beer.
Business or family dinner Absolutely. Reeks of charm from an earlier era. Acts like a family-owned restaurant.

One other note. A small 20-gallon brewery in the front window produces beer for one or two taps. Small in this case does not mean  it isn't great - their first beer won a Silver medal at the Indiana State Fair Brewers Cup before it even was available at the bar.

Oh, bring your laptop... There's free WiFi
