Kahn's Keystone Grand OpeningJanuary 29, 2007 Having moved from a very small, cramped store on the 5000 block of Keystone Avenue in Indianapolis, Kahn's Fine Wines is now located in a very large, cramped "superstore" a few doors to the south. The charm may be gone, but the service remains impecable. There's Brennan Corder at the door to greet you. Friendly professionals in aprons mill about eager to assist you in satisfying your every whim- scotch? beer? wine? It's the same Kahn's. Just more. Located a few doors down from the old familiar it may not be as quaint, but it's a heck of a lot more organized. The "new" Kahn's Keystone puts their beers in a row, not like it was...in a "shuffle around the boxes zig-zag hope you get there" arrangement. The boxes and cratess of wines and beers are still in the aisles, though- a sign of a living, breathing liquor store true to their original charter. We like it. So today was the grand opening of the new Kahn's on Keystone, with a focus on Indiana beers. And brewers from around the state were on hand offering up free samples of their beers. Upland, Mad Anthony, Oaken Barrel, Warbird, Three Floyd's, Mishawaka Brewing... Here's a few pictures.. Above is the "warehouse" feel of the new Kahn's on Keystone. Not pictured is a walk-in refrigerator/doors combo to the left for beer. Very nice. Also not visited: The deli... sure to be a hit as it is at the Carmel location. Mad Anthony brought a full, colorful array of beers to taste. Backroad poured four, and kept pouring those four, one at a time. World Class offered up some rather eccentric brews from the renegade brewery in Munster: Three Floyd's. That's a bottle of Behemoth being poured. Be sure and ask the price before buying a bottle! Above, Oaken Barrel always pleases. Today they brought pleanty of bottles of Epiphany, their tripel. That's the end of our visit. Or is it the beginning. |
