Hello again everybody! Well it is Wednesday Sept 28th. Tomorrow morning bright and early....well at least early... I shall be heading to Denver, for the Great American Beer Festival. If you don't know what I'm talking about...take a look at my last article (below). Time is short and I don't really have alot to pass on this time, but what I do have is pretty good.

First up, Three Floyds Blonde Behemoth Barleywine is set for release Sept 30th. And just as with the release of Dark Lord, there will be a mass stampede to Munster. They combined two batches, brewed about a month apart, and allowed the beer to lager before they bottled it. The have around 240 cases of 22oz bottles available. Second, also from Munster, is that the Brewpub, is in the final stages. Soft opening for investers, around the first part of October, and Grand Opening soon afterwords. So who is ready for a road trip to Munster to visit the brewpub when it opens

Lets see... what else do I have....I stopped in at the Brugge around the first of the month, to talk with Ted about what beers are being judged at the GABF. Unfortunatly he wasn't around, so I had a beer and frites (fries) for lunch. They only had 2 of his beers available. (Blonde and Wit) Now sure why. Hopefully things will pick up. I stopped in a couple of weeks later, and again he wasn't around. He is sure a hard person to talk to.

For those who actually read my articles, you know that I have reported on the Plainfield BW3's a couple of times. Back in the spring when I stopped in they had a really great beer selection. 20 Taps with the majority being craft/mirco brewed beer. Then this summer I stopped in again, and found that it was a 50/50 spilt with the macros. Now we come to the bad part. I stopped in last week and out of 20 taps there were only 4 craft beer...3 macro/micros (ie Newcastle, Guiness, etc...) and the rest pure fizzy yellow macro swill. Oh the humanity.

This past Saturday I again had the good fortune of sitting in on another of Mike DeWeese's beer tastings. On that particular evening we had Unibroue Ephemere Apple, Barley Island Dirty Helen, Summitt Oktoberfest, Redhook Autumn Ale, Rouge Locker Stock, Bells Sparkling Ale '01, Bells spiced Stout '02, Bells Java Stout '01, Harveys xmas Ale '03, and the best beer of the evening...JW Lees Harvest Ale. Cask conditioned in Calvados Brandy casks. You have got to stop in and try this!

Now for some bad news. For those who may not have heard it, the Dick's Bodacious BBQ in Avon is now closed. Not only did we lose a great texas BBQ place, but we lost the only great tap selection short of downtown Indy. Brian always had a hard time getting a client base established, and didn't really understand why it never seemed to take off. Well, it has been learned one of the contributing factors to why it has closed, is because of what I call, the Avon Amoral Majority. Yes the almighty righteous few, that feel they know what's in our best interest. By deciding what is acceptable as it were. It seems they took offense to the name, and put out the word to boycott and/or otherwise keep this place from succeeding.

And what word do you suppose they found offensive? Why none other than Bodacious!

Bodacious is a blend of Bold and Audacious popularized in a comic strip. It has the following meanings: Remarkable; prodigious. Audacious; gutsy. Fearlessly, often recklessly daring; bold. Unrestrained by convention or propriety; insolent. Spirited and original.

Now there is something to take offense at. How could I have missed it? So sadly those on the west side are again without a good bar to hoist a few pints of craft beer at. I guess they were all BMC drinkers!

Well that is all I have for now. But stay tuned for my report on how the Indiana breweries do at the GABF! Mark@Indianabeer.com

In a few weeks, yours truly will be heading to Denver, CO for the Great American Beer Festival! What's that you say? You don't know anything about it? Well pull up a piece of seat, and rest those tired dogs, while I try my best to 'splain it to you!

Give me a woman who truly loves beer, and I will conquer the world. -- Kaiser Wilhelm

I Have a Beer Problem...Joe and John split a quarter keg of beer. There are approx 41 mugs of beer to be drank from the keg, and each mug contains 12oz of beer. After one hour and 4 mugs, Joe has to take a leak. John however needs to take a leak after only 2 mugs during this time. If both Joe and John continue drinking for six hours... How many leaks will be taken during this period by each and how many mugs will remain in the quarter of keg?

Sometimes when I reflect back on all the beer I drink I feel ashamed. Then I look into the glass and think about the workers in the brewery and all of their hopes and dreams. If I didn't drink this beer, they might be out of work and their dreams would be shattered. Then I say to myself, "It is better that I drink this beer and let their dreams come true than be selfish and worry about my liver."--Jack Handy

Yesterday, scientists for Health Canada suggested that men should take a look at their beer consumption, considering the results of a recent analysis that revealed the presence of female hormones in beer. The theory is that drinking beer makes men turn into women. To test the finding, 100 men were fed 6 pints of beer each. It was then observed that 100% of the men gained weight, talked excessively without making sense, became overly emotional, couldn't drive, failed to think rationally, argued over nothing, and refused to apologize when wrong.
No further testing is planned.
