Mahon's Mash

Hello again one and all! Sorry I'm so late with my latest article, but between work, being sick, and the weather, I just haven't had much time.

So lets get on with it shall we? January wasn't a real busy month. There were only two beer tasting that I went to. The first was Jan 14th at the Broadripple Dick's BBQ. The theme was Stouts and Porters...just what you need on a winters day. Adam has really come a long way from when he first got involved in beer tastings in Avon. Well let me tell you he puts on a good tasting twice a month. For those of you interested his next tasting will be Feb 18th. The cost is $15 which includes a meal. You can't beat that.

The next event I went to, was a joint group gathering by the local Indiana Beer Advocates , and the Rate Beer people, at the Downtown BW3's. It was put together and hosted by none other than Mike Sprinkle.

There were around 15 people present, and each brought a beer or two for everyone to sample. Here is what we had.

Heavyweight Saison De La Soeur Golden
Pizza Port SPF 45 Saison
Fantome Pissenlit
DFH Pangaea
Chaucers Mead
Lurgashal Christmas Mead
New Glarus Black Wheat
Andrechs Doppelbock Dunkle
Avery Eleven
Scaldis Belgian Special Ale
Portsmouth Black Cat Stout
Unita Breweing Tenth Anniversary Barleywine
Brooklyn Brewing Black Chocolate Stout
Stoudt's Fat Dog Stout
Stone Old Guardian
Full Sail Imperial Porter
Stone 8th and 9th Anniversary Ales
Pizza Port Santa's Little Helper Imperial Stout
Storm King Imperial Stout

Nice little selection if I say so myself. Here are a couple dead soldier pics...

Now for me, the high point of the night, I actually got a chance to visit Mike Deweese's BW's cellar. So many cases of vintage beer. Such a fine site to see...

It just makes someone who enjoys great beer speechless!

Well like I said not a busy month. The next event coming up is the Lafayette Brewing Companys Winter Warmer. Tickets are sold out again this year, but I know where there is a pair of tickets available, just let me know ASAP.

Till next time....Signs That You Are Too Drunk
You lose arguments with inanimate objects.
You have to hold onto the lawn to keep from falling off the earth.
Your doctor finds traces of blood in your alcohol stream.
Sincerely believe alcohol to be the elusive 5th food group.
24 hours in a day, 24 beers in a case - coincidence??
Two hands and just one mouth...now THAT'S a drinking problem!
Your twin sons are named Barley and Hops.
Hey, 5 beers has just as many calories as a burger, screw dinner!
Mosquitoes catch a buzz after attacking you
The whole bar says 'Hi' when you come in...
That damned pink elephant followed me home again.
